Meeting at the Edge: Curriculum and Learning - CELA 2001 August 9-11, 2001 - Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, California This year's CELA conference will be hosted by the Landscape Architecture Department at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, California. The dates are August 9 -11, 2001. San Luis Obispo is located on the beautiful Central Coast of California, an ideal place for the whole family in August. Plan to make the conference part of a California summer vacation. Information about CELA 2001 and the Central Coast can be found at http://landarch.calpoly.edu/cela2001. The 2001 CELA Conference will focus on the topic of "curriculum and learning" in all aspects of landscape architecture education, with a particular emphasis on how curriculum provides the framework for teaching and learning. As is usually the case, papers, posters, workshops, and panel discussions in the breadth of landscape architecture are invited, and the conference is open to anyone studying the landscape. This could include, but is not limited to, planners, geographers, historians, sociologists, architects and ecologists. CELA 2001 invites proposals for highly interactive panel presentations and discussions on the issues of curriculum and student learning as well as traditional papers. Successful proposals will denote a clear session focus, the expected duration between 30 to 90 minutes, and be those with a clear statement as to how attendees will be actively engaged in the session topic. Abstracts should be no more than 400 words. The original submission should be double-spaced using a 12 point serif font with 1.5" margins on all sides. The title of the work and authors' names and affiliations should be centered at the top of the page (names will be deleted for review). Submit three (3) paper copies of the abstract. E-mail or diskette copies of abstracts will be accepted for this original submission. Please submit electronic abstracts in MS Word, RTF, or plain text formats. Electronic submission will be required for abstracts and papers selected for presentation at the 2001 CELA Conference. Specification for these will be forthcoming. Abstracts due February 16, 2001. Submission of abstracts and/or information should be directed to: Professor Gary Clay For further information on other aspects of the conference please contact: Professor Walter Bremer or Professor Dale Sutliff |
